We stayed in Kathmandu following the flight and to organise the remainder of our trip. I believe that 2 days in Kathmandu is ample to explore the city and take in the sights either before heading off to explore the stunning beauty of Nepal or when finishing the trip

Nepal is like another world, well worth visiting for the adventurous and open-minded.
Mountains, Hindu temples, Buddhist stupas and Tibetan monasteries, cities bustling with cheerful people and open-fronted shops, squalor and beauty, power cuts, street dogs and chickens, chaotic beeping traffic, 50% motorbikes and scooters, sometimes with more that two on board, which nevertheless an old lady can somehow cross safely.

So many things to see and experience, truly awesome.
So many things to see and experience, truly awesome. Lots of places to eat to experience the local cuisine. lots of places are within walking distance and the taxis are very cheep to get to the places out of walking distance. On a word of caution, wear a face mask, the air pollution is chronic. One disappointing thing that I found quite shocking was that the supposedly "sacred river" that flows through the city was treated as an open sewer. The smell and sight of raw effluent coming from the waters was horrific.

It’s a crazy high pace of screaming motorbikes and daredevil taxi drivers with your life in their hands. Some interesting spiritual sites of interest and a bazillion trekking companies and trekking equipment and clothing stores selling the top names brands all fake of course. You gotta love the people and their culture !!

People in Nepal are very nice and honest.
People in Nepal are very nice and honest. Taxis are costly and sometimes overcharged.
But once agreed they would not trouble you much. Delays from your side are absorbed with any extra demands for money.
Nice wheather. Food variety may be limited if you are vegetarian like me. Its a fun place all together. Do visit patan Darbar chandragiri Hills and Pashupatinath temple.
This hotel is in the heart of Thamel. Everything is close from here. If you are a party loving person, this is the best hotel. Because, LOD is just in the opposite side of the hotel. They have a Garden view from the front hotel and you can always look at mountain peaks from any window you will be looking at. The staff here were super supportive and their services were very great. Specially Mr. Keshab, is an amazing human being, who is always ready to give proper hospitality. For, next stay in Kathmandu, I will definitely think of this place.
it was tucked back in a quieter alley which is quite the commodity in Kathmandu. We were able to easily walk throughout the Thamel and there were so many restaurant options close by. the provided breakfast is worth getting as it was hearty with lots of options. it was clean and the staff was helpful. we had a group member get sick and the other two of us were able to easily get another room for the night. they also had a laundry service that was very reasonable. hotel Jampa was a great value and I’d definitely stay there again.
"The Vastu Boutique Hotel in Thamel, Kathmandu, is a gem of modern comfort nestled in the city's vibrant heart. Perfectly suited for backpackers and other travelers alike, its prime location offers easy access to major attractions as well as a myriad of dining, nightlife, and shopping options. My stay was marked by a pristine room, restful sleep, and notably, the warmth and efficiency of the staff, especially the receptionist. A wholehearted recommendation for anyone seeking a delightful stay in Kathmandu."
Very well located, in the best part of Thamel in my opinion. Comfortable bedroom and huge bed! Very kind and professional staff. The bathroom was clean and modern. And the views from the rooftop terrace, where breakfast is served, are fabulous! This is a very well-rounded hotel and better than many in the UK.
For those wondering about the reviews mentioning hot water, we had it during all of our stay. No problems at all and the tap is modern, so it’s very easy to control the temperature.
This is a lovely hotel in the Thamel area, and from so many to choose from, we found this had the best price for what you get. It is a large comfortable lobby and professional reception area, the manager is always on hand to assist with any questions. The rooms are spacious and with hot water, air conditioning, and wifi, it was perfect after a long trek. They also have airport pickup, and can arrange the airport dropoff for a good price. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Very good location in the center of touristic Thamel district, but so calm and cute!
Clean, quiet, friendly staff, amazing manager Dal who is very supportive and ready to help you any minute.
We were celebrating my husband’s birthday, and the hotel gave us tasty cake and prepared nice things.
Their constant attention was pleasant and service was always very good.
Highly recommended for Kathmandu visit! Thank you, all Kailash boutique hotel staff, you are amazing.

One of the best hotels in Thamel. Very good location so quiet and peaceful environment with beautiful greenery garden. Good spacious room with garden view from sunny balcony. Amazing hot shower and great breakfast. Fantastic friendly and nice helpful staff. Everything is perfect here. I will definitely recommend this place.
Location, staff and facilities. It is just 2 min walk in Thamel so you can still enjoy it without the noise from the bars. Staff are very nice and helpful and the hotel itself is really good. The airport drop off was really convenient since the size of the car is bigger than the normal taxis is Kathmandu.
Beautiful view from hotel room and roof.View from roof 360 D. Felt like my second home .Friendly staff. WIFI is fast as well .Best location for Thamel ,Kathmandu dubar square and Swyambhu stupa (monkey temple also called).
affordable price go stupa view inn .
Location is excellent, right in the center of Thamel. For a budget hotel this is excellent value for the money.
Breakfast is a bit skimpy, but so are most hotels in Nepal.
The staff is super friendly and helpful. We would stay there again on our next trip
Very nice hotel in Thamel, close from the best streets. Manager and staff were so nice from arrival, always asking if I needed help or calling for taxis for me. The room was super nice and clean, with a very conch bed. I recommend it a 100 %.
The owner and Hotel staff are amazing. Their service is wonderful. They treat guest as family member. Also the room space is big.Hotel Location is near to Thamel. I recommend others to stay this hotel while visit Kathmandu, Nepal.
One of the best hotel location in Thamel, Kathmandu.
They have amazing service and hospitality. The room was comfortable, and the environment is peaceful. Everything clean and good amenities, hughly recommended.
Location is the best for those who are going to the mountains in a couple of days or who came back either. The hotel has spacious modern rooms with good views of Kathmandu. Breakfast is excellent, too.
One of the best (and value-for-money) 3-star hotels in Kathmandu. Super helpful staff, nice rooms, great location in Thamel. This was our second stay, will definitely book again for our next trip.
This is a new, modern, clean hotel, very conveniently located in Thamel. The staff is friendly and helpful and it feels like a bit of an oasis in dynamic Kathmandu.
