Simple Media Network (SIMTV Nepal) Pvt. Ltd.: A Joint Venture of Emiratinvest Limited, British Virgin Island, and a licensed Multi-system Operator for providing a large number of Nepalese & International channels via HFC network to the customer using Set-top box. SimTV's Digital Head End is fully functional from three different parts of Nepal. One is situated at Kathmandu, one at Mid-Western and another one in the Western part of Nepal. “Kanchan Sky” is a Digital Wireless TV licensed by the government of Nepal under the category of MMDS (Multi-channel, Multi-point Distribution Service). It is transmitted in Digital Video Broadcasting DVB-S2 format from different parts of Nepal.

MMDS which is popularly known as wireless Digital TV runs in ultra-high-frequency (Ku-band). The technical architecture of Kanchan Sky is compatible with SD, HD, and 4K along with HEVC compression with excellent picture quality. Hence, the subscriber could enjoy the genre of HD & 4K channels with an international standard that can be offered by none of the existing competitors. The technology is tried and tested and free from all climatic effect including heavy rainfall different from DTH service. Kanchan Sky can serve a decent number of 4K resolution Digital TV through wireless eco-system any time better than existing DTH and MSO operators.

MMDS is one of the competing platforms for running Digital TV service among MSO, DTH, and IPTV. Kanchan Sky as the MMDS operator is considered to be promising alternative platforms for conventional LCO (Local Cable Operator) spread across the country. Since Government is encouraging the wireless environment in the major cities to take upcoming Smart City environment into account, the MMDS project could reap the benefit in the succeeding year.

DOEN TV is Nepal’s leading MSO (Multi System Operator) that provides digital cable TV (CATV) service in the major cities of the country. The reach of DOEN TV is in eastern, central, and western parts of Nepal where an estimated total household coverage is 1 million-plus. Once its distribution eco-system is expanded to other major cities of Nepal, the reach and HH coverage of DOEN TV is likely to increase significantly. Now DOEN TV is providing Digital CATV service through 100 plus LCO in the different regions of the country. The presence of DOEN TV is in economically active cities as well as emerging cities/towns of Nepal.

NTTV is the television service provided by the Nepal Government-owned Nepal Telecom. It is in operation since 1st January 2021 with two packages namely basic and premium. Nepal Telecom is also providing the combo package which includes fiber internet(NTFTTH), free telephone(NT-NT 250 minutes) and television service. Currently, NTC is providing its NTTV service only in Kathmandu Valley and Banepa and hope they expand this service to other places soon.

When checking for the monthly rental for the combo pack, it seems to be a reasonable price but unfortunately, you have to pay for the set-top box and connection charge separately whereas other competitors provide it for free if you subscribe to it for a year.
